James serves as Chief Operating Officer of Matrix Capital Markets Group, Inc. and is responsible for the day-to-day operations and policies and procedures of the firm, including strategic planning and implementation, human resources management, information technology and legal oversight, as well as office services administration. James’ career prior to Matrix included leadership roles in a diverse mix of companies and industries. Most recently, he served as COO of Connected Solutions Group, LLC (CSG), where he led the successful scaling of the company’s operations, human resources, and finance with an employee count that grew from 30 to 250+ over a three-year period. CSG placed 8th on the Inc. 5000 List in 2019. Prior to CSG, he served as Regional Vice President & Business Development Officer at a Richmond based subsidiary of First National Bank of Pennsylvania and was responsible for structuring and funding M&A transactions. James received a B.A. in Political Science with a Cognate in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. He has served on multiple non-profit and service organization boards, including the Rotary Club of Innsbrook (Richmond) and the Henrico Firefighter Foundation. James was also the chair and sponsor of the Virginia Move Over license plate legislation which was signed into law by the Governor of Virginia in 2019.

He is responsible for the deployment, maintenance, training, and day-to-day operations of the firm’s various electronic databases and file systems where he also provides data and system analysis. Prior to joining Matrix, he was with Connected Solutions Group for four years as NetSuite Administrator, Operational Technology Engineer, and MDM Fulfillment Manager, respectively. He received a BS in Information Systems from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2020.
